Registration and first steps

After you have entered the initial information required to sign up for a FlatWorld account, you will need to register for our two-factor authentication in order to keep your materials secure. Follow these steps to complete that process:

1. After entering your information to create an account, you will be brought to this page:

Authenticate via SMS

2. From here, you can enter the code sent to your phone, or select 'Prefer to use an authenticator app?' if you're not receiving the message, don't have access to a phone, or just prefer this method.

If it first you did not receive the code, you can click 'Resend Code' to try again.

You can also change your number here if it was entered improperly on the previous screen.

Please note: this will be the ONLY time you can change your phone number.

3. If you've decided to use SMS and have entered the code, you will be brought to the main page, logged in and ready to use your materials.

If you clicked 'Prefer to use an authenticator app?', continue on.

Authenticate Via Authenticator App, QR Code

Note: For all non-SMS authentication methods, you will need to download an authentication app. This app is a desktop/laptop based program designed to verify your identity without a SMS message being sent to your phone. We would recommend the Google Authenticator App, though you can also use a variety of others including 2FAs, Last Pass, and Microsoft Authenticator. Please know, we DO NOT support these apps and you would be required to visit Customer Support for these companies in the event of any issues.

4. Once 'Prefer to use an authenticator app?' has been clicked, you will arrive at this screen:

5. You will now have two options: you can scan the QR Code which will prompt you to visit your phone's default authenticator app, and then enter the six digit code that appears, or you can click 'this text code'.

Authenticate Via Authenticator App, Text Based

Note: For all non-SMS authentication methods, you will need to download an authentication app. This app is a desktop/laptop based program designed to verify your identity without a SMS message being sent to your phone. We would recommend the Google Authenticator App, though you can also use a variety of others including 2FAs, Last Pass, and Microsoft Authenticator. Please know, we DO NOT support these apps and you would be required to visit Customer Support for these companies in the event of any issues.

If you click on 'this text code', you will get a pop up with a string of numbers and letters:

Enter that string of numbers and letters into your authenticator app's Key Setup, and you will be given the six digit code that will need to be entered into the website to authenticate.

6. Once you've entered the six digit code, you should be good to log into your account!
