What is an Assignment/Exam Template?

An assignment/exam template allows you to save your settings when creating assignments or exams (exam feature is currently available for certain Math titles only).

Each homework course can have its own template. For example, if you are teaching two sections of Math, you can have one assignment template for section 1, and another for section 2.

Please Note: Exams are only available for certain titles.

How does it work?

  • Templates can be updated when instructors are creating or editing an assignment/exam.

  • The template covers both the general assignment/exam settings in Step 1 and the support controls in Step 4 in the assignment/exam creation.

  • If you change the value of a field that was auto-populated with a system default, you will be prompted to update their assignment template so that the same settings will be applied to any assignments/exams you create in the future.

  • Once the template has been updated, creating a new assignment/exam will apply the new custom defaults you have entered.

  • Checking the "Save my preference..." box will prevent update messaging from popping up when you create future assignments. If you check this box and click Update Template, those settings will be your defaults on newly created assignments in the future. If you check this box and click Don't Update Template, your assignments will always start with the standard default settings.
