Accessing the FlatWorld Homework Tool
Open the desired course on which you are listed as an educator.
Click on the Content option located in the menu on the left side of the screen.
On the Content page, click on the Build Content Tab.
Locate and select 'FlatWorld Homework' from the Build Content dropdown menu. (Your instance will not be named 'FlatWorld Homework Staging', as this screenshot is for demo purpose only).
If you are using the Original Course View in BlackBoard, you will want to click on Assignments from the menu on the left of your course screen, then click the Build Content tab.
Configure your book
The first time you use the FlatWorld Homework tool in your course, it will ask you to choose the book you are using. You should see the following screen:
The course name will be the name of your course in BlackBoard. Do not worry about the course ID. You can search for your book by title or by ISBN. If you are using a custom book, please confirm that it is yours by using the book ISBN or by verifying the "adapted by (YOUR NAME)" that will show at the end of the book.
Creating your assignments
Selecting FlatWorld Homework will bring up the assignment creation window for you to build your content. We recommend the following articles for more in depth instruction on building FlatWorld assignments.
Embedding the Assignment in Blackboard
When you have completed your assignment and hit 'Publish' you will be prompted to embed the assignment in Blackboard through the 'Embed in LMS' option. Clicking the 'Embed in LMS' button will prompt a warning screen, as the act of embedding the assignment will automatically publish the assignment. Please be sure that you do not wish to make any changes to the assignment before embedding.
Clicking 'Embed in LMS' will load the assignment into Blackboard, and you can now edit the BlackBoard assignment settings.
Editing the Blackboard Assignment Settings
You can now configure additional assignment settings within BlackBoard, such as due date. Navigate back to the Course Content page, and click on the down arrow icon next to the assignment name.
From the dropdown menu that appears, select 'Edit".
This will open up the Edit Web Link page, where you can finalize the assignment details before making it ready for students.
