General Browser Troubleshooting

  • If you are having trouble accessing your Homework assignments, there may be an issue with the web browser you are using. Please make sure to use Firefox or Chrome if you are using a Windows computer, and make sure to use Firefox, Chrome, or Safari if you are on a Mac computer.

  • There is a browser setting that you will need to change on Safari, but that can be done in the Privacy Preferences for Safari. It can also be helpful to clear your browser cache, cookies, and browsing data, as well as checking for available browser updates.

I am being asked to log Into FlatWorld on my LMS (Blackboard, Canvas, D2L/Brightspace, Moodle) while using Safari

    • In the top menu next to the Apple symbol go to Safari>Preferences, then select Privacy in the System Preferences window. Unchecking the box that says "Prevent cross-site tracking" should allow our Homework system to successfully communicate with your school’s LMS (Canvas, Blackboard, D2L/Brightspace, Moodle).

      • If updating that setting does not resolve the issue, it may help to try switching to Firefox or Chrome. If you still cannot access your assignments after trying these steps, please contact us through our website live chat feature (blue chat bubble in the lower right corner of the website) or by phone (877.257.9243).

I am being asked to log into FlatWorld on my LMS (Blackboard, Canvas, D2L/Brightspace, Moodle) while using Chrome

  • You should not have to log into FlatWorld when accessing your assignments through your school’s Learning Management System (Canvas, Blackboard, D2L/Brightspace, Moodle), our system should recognize your account email as you access the assignment.

  • Please contact us through our website live chat feature (blue chat bubble in the lower right corner of the website) or by phone (877.257.9243) if you still cannot access your Homework assignments after trying these steps.

I get a message that the "Book is Not Accessible" or the screen is stuck on "Please Wait While We Authenticate You"

  • If you see an error message about the book not being accessible or you get stuck on an authentication screen, then it's possible that you registered for FlatWorld with the wrong email address, or got the wrong book for class.

    • If you see the Book is Not Accessible error message, please reach out to us through our website live chat feature (blue chat bubble in the lower right corner of the website) or by phone (877.257.9243) so we can help you to get the course textbook onto the correct account with you.

    • If you see the authentication error, it can help to clear your browser cache, cookies, and browsing data, as well as disabling any adblockers or extensions you have active on your browser. If that doesn't resolve the issue, please reach out to our Customer Service Team.

I get a message that I have "Accessed the Assignment from an Invalid or Outdated Link"

  • If you see an error message about reaching the assignment from an Invalid or Outdated Link, it could mean one of two things. Either you have exceeded your attempt limit for the assignment, or the assignment requires further setup by your professor.

    • Please reach out to your professor to confirm that the attempt limit is correct on the LMS (Blackboard, Canvas, D2L/Brightspace, Moodle), and that the assignment has been fully published and embedded onto the LMS.

      • If your professor needs further assistance confirming the assignment settings or the assignment status, they can reach us through our website live chat or by phone at 877.257.9243.

I am being asked for an Invitation Code

  • The invitation code for your Homework course is what you can use to self-enroll on your professor's Homework course if they are using the standalone Homework system.

    • If you need your course invitation code, you can reach out to your professor or you can reach out to our Customer Service Team (we will just need to know your professor's first and last name, as well as your course information so we can locate it for you).

    • If your course is set up on your school's LMS (Canvas, Moodle, Blackboard, D2L/Brightspace), there will be no invitation code, you will just need to be placed on the LMS course roster and have the online textbook in order to access the assignments. You can reach our Customer Service team on our website live chat or by phone at 877.257.9243.
